Travel time is billed at the same hourly rate as labor here — some cleaners instead charge a flat trip fee. Adjust "travel time per visit" to zero and add a flat fee to your quote if you prefer that model.
Cleaning-specific cost considerations
- Recurring clients (weekly/biweekly) typically justify a lower per-visit price than one-time deep cleans, which take longer per square foot.
- Vehicle wear, fuel and insurance are easy to under-count in overhead — track actual mileage costs.
- A square-foot or room-count based estimator is a natural future enhancement once you have enough job data.
Worked example
$45,000 income, $9,000 overhead, 48 weeks, 35 hrs/week, 75% utilization, 2 labor hrs + 0.3 travel hrs per visit, $8 supplies:
- Billable hours: 48 × 35 × 0.75 = 1,260 hours/year
- Recommended hourly rate: $54,000 ÷ 1,260 ≈ $42.86/hour (before reserve/margin)
- Price per visit: (2.3 hrs × $42.86) + $8 supplies ≈ $106.58
